Short answer. No one can tell you the 17 results of a jackpot in advance. Guessing them gives you 1 chance in 129,140,163. Backing the favourite in every match is far better, but for a typical set of 17 it is still about 1 in 130,000: roughly the same as calling 17 coin tosses in a row. That figure comes from 8,166 matches we priced between 11 June and 2 November 2026, read on 2 November 2026: the favourite won 51.4% of them, just as often as its fair chance said. Draws, about 1 match in 4, break most tickets, and a list of close games makes the chance much worse.

How a 17-match jackpot works
A jackpot ticket asks you to call the result of every match on a fixed list: 1 (home win), X (draw) or 2 (away win). The operator chooses the matches, and the top prize goes only to tickets with every result right. In Kenya the best-known example is SportPesa's Mega Jackpot, played on 17 pre-selected matches. Football knowledge can change which results you pick. It cannot change the arithmetic below.
Pure guessing: 1 in 129,140,163
With three results per match, 17 matches give 3 multiplied by itself 17 times: 129,140,163 possible tickets. Only one has every result right, so a random ticket has about a 1 in 129 million chance.
Backing the favourite every time: about 1 in 130,000
Backing the favourite does far better than guessing. To see how much better, we took 8,166 matches in 88 competitions, played between 11 June and 2 November 2026, with Pinnacle's closing 1X2 prices (the last prices before kick-off). We removed the bookmaker's margin to get the fair chance of a home win, a draw and an away win. The favourite is the most likely of the three.
The favourite's fair chance averaged 51.4%, and the favourite won 4,194 of the 8,166 matches: 51.4%. On average, the fair chance was accurate. But a jackpot multiplies 17 chances together. For a typical set of 17 of these matches, that comes to about 1 in 130,000, almost exactly the chance of 17 coin tosses all landing heads (1 in 131,072).
In 1,000,000 random sets of 17 of these matches, checked against the real results, the favourites got 8.7 right on average. 14 or more right happened in under 1% of sets, 16 or more in about 1 set in 5,000.
| How the 17 calls are made | Chance per match | Chance of 17 out of 17 |
|---|---|---|
| Random guess | 33.3% | 1 in 129,140,163 |
| Favourite every time, closer half of our matches | 41.6% (typical) | about 1 in 3 million |
| Favourite every time, typical set of our matches | 50.0% (typical) | about 1 in 130,000 |
| 17 coin tosses, for scale | 50% | 1 in 131,072 |
Why draws break most tickets
Draws are common and hard to call. In our 8,166 matches, 2,073 ended level: 25.4%, about 1 in 4. A set of 17 has about 4 draws on average, and about 85% of our simulated sets had 3 or more.
Yet the draw was the single most likely result in only 95 of the 8,166 matches (1.2%). Its fair chance was between 20% and 33% in 80% of matches, and 35% or more in under 2%.
A ticket with no X wins only if none of the 17 matches is drawn. That happened in 0.7% of our simulated sets, about 1 in 145. So a winning ticket usually needs about 4 correct X calls, and a draw's fair chance is mostly only 20–33%.
The operator picks the 17, not you
The figures above are for random sets of our matches. A jackpot list is chosen by the operator, and every evenly matched game on it lowers the chance. In the closer half of our matches, where the favourite's fair chance was under 48.7%, the favourite won only 41.2% of the time. Seventeen matches like that multiply to about 1 in 3 million. We have not measured which matches Kenyan jackpots choose, so read 1 in 130,000 as a typical week, not a worst case.
What mega jackpot prediction sites can and cannot know
No one knows the results in advance. The best a forecaster can do is estimate each result's chance, and the sharp closing price is the best public estimate we know of. A forecaster exactly that good would still face about 1 in 130,000 on a typical set: the uncertainty is in the matches, not in the forecast.
To do better, a site would have to know more than the closing price, and the test for that is whether its picks beat the closing line. As of 2 November 2026, none of the 8 free prediction sites we measure beats it with statistical confidence; 7 are measurably below it, and the eighth cannot yet be told apart from the market (/review). We measure Telegram tipsters the same way on /tipster-audit.
Before you trust any jackpot prediction, ask for its record:
- every pick published with a time stamp before kick-off;
- every ticket kept, losing ones included, over many weeks;
- not screenshots of winning tickets, which prove nothing.
The full checklist is in How to verify any tipster in 10 minutes. We do not measure paid jackpot tips: a seller who will not publish every pick before kick-off cannot be checked, by us or by you.
How to see the fair chance of a match
/football-predictions-today and /football-predictions-weekend show the fair chance of a home win, a draw and an away win for every match we cover, with the margin removed. They are free and need no account. The slip checker checks a normal slip of up to 8 selections and, for matches we cover, shows its estimated fair probability. A 17-match ticket will not fit, but the arithmetic is the same: multiply the chances of your 17 calls.

How we measured
- Data. 8,166 matches in 88 competitions, 11 June to 2 November 2026, with Pinnacle's closing 1X2 prices and the result after 90 minutes, read from our database on 2 November 2026.
- Fair chance. Margin removed with the power method, which our site uses. The simpler proportional method gives the favourite 50.3% on average (it won 51.4%) and a typical set of about 1 in 176,000.
- Typical set. The favourite's typical chance (geometric mean, 50.0%) to the 17th power. Half of the 1,000,000 simulated sets were harder than about 1 in 130,000; the average over all sets, pulled up by rare sets of strong favourites, is about 1 in 84,000.
- Limits. Matches are treated as independent. Closing prices include late team news you do not have days before kick-off. Our matches are not a jackpot list.
